Title

Approve a Recommendation for the Brush and Bulk Item Collection Program to be Presented to County Council

.Recommended Action Motion

In consideration of the desires of the community as determined by a public open forum and comments received, and also in consideration of the resources available, the Environmental Sustainability Board recommends that:

1.)  The bulk trash and brush pickup program be modified to provide a brush pickup two times each year and a bulk trash pickup two times each year.

2.)   Actions should be taken to inform the community of other means for disposal of brush and bulk trash including:

a.        Free trips (twelve per year) available for each household at the Eco Center.

b.       Provision for neighbors and friends to assist with transport of large items and brush to the Eco Center.

c.        Changing the advertised dates of pickup from a pick up date to a place out date and revising the schedule to allow more time for areas known to produce larger volumes of brush.

3.)   Procedures at the Eco Center should be clarified and revised to enable the proper use of the “12 load” provision by neighbors and friends of county residents.

4.)   In addition the ESB recommends that the economic feasibility of an additional roll cart for “organic” or “yard waste” be investigated and implemented when possible.

I move that the Environmental Sustainability Board approve the recommendation as presented.

Or

I move that the Environmental Sustainability Board approve the recommendation as amended.
