Board/Commission Appointment(s) - Environmental Sustainability Board.
Recommended Action
I nominate Erik Loechell [D], Richard B. “Skip” Dunn [G], and Susan Barnes [D] to fill two vacancies on the Environmental Sustainability Board and move that Council appoint two nominees to the vacant positions as follows:
By roll call vote, Councilors vote for 2 nominees -- and the 2 nominees with the highest vote total of four or more be appointed to fill ESB terms beginning August 1, 2016 and ending on July 31, 2018.
Body
The Environmental Sustainability Board is a seven member board with staggered two-year terms beginning August 1 and ending July 31. A copy of the current Board Member list is attached for reference (Attachment A).
The two vacancies represent a recently expired terms for Cliff Han and Sandra West. Mr. Han is ineligible for reappointment as he has served two full terms. Ms. West in not interested in re-appointment.

Party affiliations are noted as [D] Democrat, [R] Republican, [I] Independent, [G] Green, [L] Libertarian, [DTS] Declined to State, and [N] Not Registered to Vote.
All of the applicants were interviewed by an interview committee between June and August 2016. The recommendation of the interview committee is attached.
The interview committee consisted of the following:
ESB Member: Danny Katzman
Council Liaison: James Chrobocinski
ESB Staff Liaison: Angelica Gurule
The interview committee recommends the following applicants: Erik Loechell and Susan Barnes.
Appointing any of the applicants will not violate the County Charter restriction concerning political party majorities on Boards and Commissions.
