Appointment of Members to the Los Alamos County DWI Planning Council
Recommended Action
I move that the Council appoint Juanita McNiel, Municipal Court Administrator; Sgt. Monica Salazar-Casias, Los Alamos Police Department; and Abe Gordon, Inside Out Recovery to serve 2-year terms on the Los Alamos County DWI Planning Council as outlined in the staff report.
County Manager's Recommendation
The County Manager recommends that Council approve the motion as requested.
Board, Commission or Committee Recommendation
The Los Alamos DWI Planning Council voted to accept these member applications during their September 8, 2016 meeting.
Body
Los Alamos County Resolution No. 16-08 amended the structure of the Los Alamos County DWI Planning Council to authorize a minimum of nine (9) members to serve in a voting capacity for 2-year staggered terms. As per the Resolution, members are appointed to serve on the DWI Planning Council by the County Council. Two of the new members are replacing current members and will carry out the remainder of the terms as noted below. In alignment with the DWI Planning Council’s goal to recruit new members representing a broad spectrum of interests, Abe Gordon from Inside Out Recovery is being recommended by the Planning Council for appointment. Mr. Gordon will serve a 2-year term as noted below. All terms begin on May 1st and end on April 30th.

Juanita McNiel, Municipal Court (replacing Monica Hernandez-Lara)
