Title

Approval of Services Agreement No. AGR17-45 with Alpha Southwest, Inc. in the amount of $300,000.00, plus Applicable Gross Receipts Tax, for the Purpose of Supply and Installation of On-site Sodium Hypochlorite Generation System Parts Needed for the County's Water Production System

Recommended Action

I move that Council approve Services Agreement No. AGR17-45 with Alpha Southwest, Inc. in the amount of $300,000.00, plus Applicable Gross Receipts Tax, for the Purpose of Supply and Installation of On-site Sodium Hypochlorite Generation System Parts Needed for the County's Water Production System

Utilities Manager Recommendation

The Utilities Manager recommends approval as presented.

Board, Commission or Committee Recommendation

The Board of Public Utilities recommends approval as presented.

Body

The County’s Water Production group currently generates, on each of four sites, the sodium hypochlorite solution it needs to meet federal and state regulatory requirements for water disinfection prior to distribution. The four-year contract would address the needs for standardization for the disinfection systems which, in turn, represents the need for reducing the number of parts the County would have to store, if each disinfection site had equipment from different manufacturers.

Alternatives

The vendor will meet the County’s performance specifications, and their prices and supply conditions are compatible with what County staff had anticipated. The systems currently in service are in need of updating and replacement, and delaying the execution of this contract may impair the County’s ability to meet regulatory requirements.

Fiscal and Staff Impact

The replacement of existing units is, and will continue to be part of the ongoing O&M budget.
