Board/Commission Appointment(s) - Environmental Sustainability Board
.Suggested Motion
I nominate Heather Ward [I], Elena Giorgi [D], and Heidi Rogers [D] to fill two vacancies on the Environmental Sustainability Board and move that Council appoint two nominees to the vacant positions as follows:
By roll call vote, Councilors vote for 2 nominees -- and the 2 nominees with the highest vote total of at least four votes will be appointed to fill ESB terms beginning August 1, 2017 and ending on July 31, 2019.
Body
The Environmental Sustainability Board is a seven member board with staggered two-year terms beginning August 1 and ending July 31. The current Environmental Sustainability Board membership list is attached for reference (Attachment A).
The two vacancies represent a recently expired terms for Danny Katzman and Rebecca Chamberlin. Mr. Katzman and Mrs. Chamberlin are not interested in reappointment at this time.
Party affiliations are noted as [D] Democrat, [R] Republican, [I] Independent, [G] Green, [L] Libertarian, [DTS] Declined to State, and [N] Not Registered to Vote. To remain in compliance with the County Charter restriction concerning political party majorities on Boards and Commissions, only one applicant registered as a Democrat can be appointed to the ESB.
The applicants for these vacancies are: Heidi Rogers [D]; Heather Ward [I]; and Elena Giorgi [D]. The interview committee recommends the following applicants: Heidi Rogers [D] and Heather Ward [I].
