Title
Consideration of Assignment of Task To Parks and Recreation Board - To Review and Make Recommendations Regarding Softball and/or Baseball Infrastructure Needs
Recommended Action
I move that Council assign to the Parks and Recreation Board the task of Reviewing and Making Recommendations for Softball and/or Baseball Infrastructure Needs, and that any such recommendations be provided for Council's consideration prior to its meeting scheduled for December 5, 2017.
County Manager's Recommendation
The County Manager recommends that Council approve the motion as requested.
Body
During the August 8 Council Meeting, Councilor O'Leary requested that this issue be considered by Council at a future meeting. This request was in response to the fact that action taken that evening regarding CIP projects did not include any direction with respect to the Softball/Baseball fields, despite this project being one of the projects previously considered during the CIP Bond election. Information specific to the project as proposed for the bond election is included as Attachment A. If Council approves the motion as presented, any information provided by the Parks and Recreation Board will be available for the discussion that has already been scheduled for the December 5 Council Meeting date.
Alternatives
Council could choose to either alter the motion to make such information on a different date, to delineate more specifically the information they would like to be presented with, or to take no action at all.
Fiscal and Staff Impact/Planned Item
There are no known financial impacts related to this action as it relates only to the gathering of information by a volunteer board. There may later be capital costs as a result of future Council actions, but not as a result of the motion as presented. Approval of the motion would require staff actions in support of the P&R Board, however such expenses related to staff time should not require any additional funds.
