Body

The purpose of this item is to fill one vacancy on the Art in Public Places Board.

This vacancy represents an expired first term for Jeremy Smith. Mr.Smith is eligible for and interested in serving a second term. He currently serves as the APPB Chair.

The applicants for this position are:  Jeremy Smith [DTS] and Beverly Neal-Clinton [DTS]

Party affiliations are noted as [D] Democrat, [R] Republican, [I] Independent, [G] Green, [L] Libertarian, [DTS] Declined to State, and [N] Not Registered to Vote.

This five-member board has staggered two-year terms.   It is currently composed as shown on Attachment A.

Both applicants were interviewed by an interview panel on January 29. The interview committee found both applicants to be well-qualified and wishes both could have an opportunity to serve, if not now, then in the future. The interview panel is recommending the re-appointment of Jeremy Smith. His participation and leadership on the board would be greatly missed.

Appointing either of the nominees will not violate the County Charter restriction concerning political party majorities on Boards and Commissions.
