Board/Commission Appointments for the Planning and Zoning Commission
Recommended Action
I move to nominate Ralph Chapman, Jean Dewart, Todd Haagenstad, Neal Martin, Beverly Neal-Clinton, Dave North, Terry Priestley, Jacqueline Shen, Richard Thompson, or April Wade to fill five (5) vacancies on the Planning and Zoning Commission. I further move that Council appoint the five (5) nominees to the vacant positions by roll call vote. The nominees with the three highest votes of four or more will be appointed to the terms beginning April 01, 2018 and ending on March 31, 2021 and the two nominees with the next highest votes of four or more will fill partial terms ending on March 31, 2019.
If Terry Priestley is one of the five nominees who receive the highest vote of four or more, Council will need to take a second action to acknowledge and approve concurrent membership on the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Personnel Board. (Mr. Priestley's current term on the Personnel Board ends March 31, 2020).
I move Council acknowledge that Terry Priestley intends to continue serving on the Personnel Board while serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission, Council finds these two positions not incompatible, Council approves of him serving concurrently on both boards, and hereby appoints Terry Priestley to the Planning and Zoning Commission.

The purpose of this item is to fill five (5) vacancies on the Planning and Zoning Commission.
The Planning and Zoning Commission consists of nine (9) members appointed by Council. There are currently three (3) vacancies on the Commission with the resignations of Philip Kunsberg in July 2017, Jaret McDonald in December 2017, and Amy Woods in January 2018. Commissioner Kunsberg’s first term on the Commission would have expired on March 31, 2019; Commissioner McDonald’s first term would have expired on March 31, 2018; and Commissioner Woods' first term would have expired March 31, 2019.
