Recommended Action
I nominate Jean Dewart and Craig Martin to fill two (2) vacancies on the Board of Adjustment and move that Council appoint these two nominees to the vacant positions.

The purpose of this item is to fill two (2) vacancies on the Board of Adjustment.
This vacancy represents a soon to be expired term vacated by Jaret McDonald which will end on March 31, 2018 and also a vacancy by Amy Woods whose term would have ended March 31, 2019
Ordinance No. 02-084, Section 1, states that Council is to appoint the Board of Adjustment, a subset of the Planning and Zoning Commission, to hear waivers from the Los Alamos County Development Code. A waiver means an adjustment of the application of one or more dimensional requirements, parking regulations, or design standards of the Development Code for a particular piece of property. Waivers do not apply to regulations controlling density or land use. (In 2007 the Board of Adjustment replaced the former Variance Board.)
The Board of Adjustment consists of three members of the 9-member Planning and Zoning Commission, nominated by the P&Z Commission and appointed by the Council. The P&Z Chair cannot be appointed as a regular member of the Board but, by provisions of the Development Code, automatically serves as an alternate (unless he or she designates someone else) and may also sit in place of a regular member of the Board of Adjustment who is unable to attend a regular or special meeting or is unable to act on a particular case because of a conflict of interest.
