Title

Approval of Amendment No. 1 Memorandum of Agreement Between the Incorporated County of Los Alamos and the Los Alamos Public School Board (MOA15-4213-A1).

Recommended Action

I move to approve the Amendment No. 1 Memorandum of Agreement (MOA15-4213-A1) between the Incorporated County of Los Alamos and the Los Alamos Public School Board.

Administrator's Recommendation

The County Manager recommends that Council approve the agreement as requested.

Body

This agreement for services was the result of conversations between LAPS and the County regarding the needs of our high-school age population, and was an effort to enhance the level of social services available within the County for members of this population.  The original agreement between the County and LAPS was for three years, and compensation for services for that period remained within the spending authority of the County Manager.  Given the suggested exercise of our contract extension provisions, it is necessary for Council to consider this extension as the additional time frame will result in total compensation under the agreement exceeding $200,000, a fact which necessitates Council's approval.

Alternatives

The Council could choose to not approve the amendment to this agreement, in which case the services provided under the agreement would cease.
