Body
During a CIP budget meeting on March 1, 2016, County Council approved a project to acquire easements and extend the Canyon Rim Trail west of Smith’s. Due to terrain, building lot geometry and existing structures, the preferred trail alignment continues along the canyon edge requiring easements from the Department of Energy. As a result of the coordination between County and DOE staff, the subject grant of easement was developed which will allow the County to continue developing the third phase of the Canyon Rim Trail between Knecht Street and 20th Street as discussed in the Bicycle Transportation Plan. The exhibits contained in the easement illustrates the trail alignment.
Alternatives
The project cannot go forward without the grant of easement.
Fiscal and Staff Impact/Planned Item
The easement is being granted at no cost to the County. Cost associated with design, construction and maintenance of the trail will be absorbed with existing and programmed budgets and staff.
