I move that the Environmental Sustainability Board approve the Yard Trimming and Recycle Collection schedule as amended.

Body

The ESB will finalize the schedule for residential collection of yard trimming and recycle roll carts. There are currently 1,900 residents registered for the yard trimming program.

The ESB conducted an open forum survey and asked the public, “Would your household be able to continue to recycle the maximum amount of plastic, aluminum, paper and cardboard and have curbside pick-up for the materials reduced to every other week to accommodate for yard trimmings collection?”

Collecting recycle and yard trimmings bi-weekly is the most cost effective and efficient option. The open forum survey results indicate that 76.3% of participants are in support of every other week collection of recycle and yard trimming roll carts. Environmental Services current approved staffing and equipment resources can support this level of service.
