This agenda item is intended to provide the Adams+Crow Law Firm the opportunity to present a status report and preliminary findings on its investigation into allegations of improprieties involving the Regional Coalition of LANL Communities travel expenditures and related issues including Los Alamos County's role in reviewing and disclosing such issues. In addition, it is expected that the Adams+Crow Law Firm will be requesting additional funding to complete the investigation.
Representatives of the Adams+Crow law firm will be present to make this presentation and request.
The professional services contract with the Adams+ Crow Law Firm provides that compensation for services rendered under the contract shall not exceed $30,000.00. The County Manager has authority to increase the amount of compensation in this professional services contract without Council approval. However, because this investigation was instigated at the behest of the County Council, the advice and consent of the County Council is being soought prior to authorizing an increase in compensation for services rendered under the contract.
Fiscal and Staff Impact/Planned Item
Staff impact is minimal; however, an increase is compensation will have an obvious fiscal impact.
