Proclamation declaring Thursday, August 9, 2018 as "Los Alamos Coworking Day" in Los Alamos County (accepted by Burgundy Brock, projectY Community & Marketing Manager)

Body

WHEREAS:                     Coworking can be defined as like-minded professionals who work independently, but not alone, within a collaborative workspace that fosters a sense of community and shared values; and

 

WHEREAS:                     Los Alamos coworking is a celebration of freelancers, entrepreneurs and remote workers who thrive in a supportive, productive and collaborative work environment; and

 

WHEREAS:                     Coworking has a substantial impact on independent workers. Many who use coworking spaces report improved focus and an increase in creativity. Independent workers and start-ups are discovering a new way to work that has a positive impact on the local economy; and

 

WHEREAS:                     On this day, solo workers from all industries are encouraged to embrace their independence, think collaboratively and visit our local coworking space which is projectY cowork Los Alamos; and

 

WHEREAS:                     projectY is supported by the Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation, Los Alamos County, the Feynman Center for Innovation at Los Alamos National Laboratory, the Regional Development Corporation and LANS, LLC. The Council is enthusiastic in seeing the space grow and thrive as a hub for entrepreneurial efforts and training opportunities to help diversify our economy by providing a supportive space for freelancers, remote workers, students and trailing partners of Los Alamos National Laboratory employees;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the Council of the Incorporated County of Los Alamos, I do hereby proclaim Thursday, August 9, 2018 as

 

“LOS ALAMOS COWORKING DAY”

 

in Los Alamos County, and ask our citizens to experience the supportive opportunities made available through coworking!
