Yard Trimming Roll Cart Program Update

The new yard trimming program began July 9, 2018. As of August 2018, 2,800 households received yard trimming roll carts and 89.84 tons of yard trimming materials were collected in the month of July. The amount of yard trimmings collected diverted five truck loads from being sent to the Rio Rancho Landfill. As of September, 3,200 households received yard trimming carts.
An additional 250 requests for yard trimming roll carts have been received. Los Alamos County received a RAID Grant from NMED Solid Waste Bureau, in the amount of $31,704 which will fund an additional 624 yard trimming roll carts. The carts have been ordered.
Customers are requesting either larger or additional recycle carts to accommodate the change to the collection schedule for yard trimming and recycle.
