Proposal to Install Sunflower Art Piece by Ed Grothus at the Transfer Station

 

Recommended Action Motion

I move that the Environmental Sustainability Board approve the proposal to place the Sunflower art piece at the Eco Station as recommended.

 

Or

 

I move that the Environmental Sustainability Board approve the proposal to place the Sunflower art piece at the Eco Station as amended.

 

Body

The ESB will discuss and take action on the proposal to install the Sunflower art piece by Ed Grothus at the Eco Station.  The proposed location for the art piece would be at the top of the transfer station building on the west - facing wall. Below is some information about the Sunflower art piece:

                     Metal sculpture was created by Ed Grothus.

                     The art piece is 14 feet in diameter and made of recycled metal.

                     The estate of the famous recycler and peace activist, Ed Grothus has offered up the donation.

                     Livy Snyder, artist and curator, has presented a recommendation for sanding, re-painting and overall restoration of the piece.

      •                     Opportunity to honor a Los Alamos community legend, artist and peace activist. 

                     The Eco Station auctions were events that Ed Grothus attended on a regular basis.
