Recommended Action
I nominate the following individual to the Personnel Board:
1. Kenneth Cleveland {D}, new appointment.
Body
The purpose of this item is to fill the final vacancy on the Personnel Board with Kenneth Cleveland. This appointment would be to complete the term which is to expire on March 31, 2021. While the County has continued to advertise for the Personnel Boards vacancy, Mr. Cleveland is the only expression of interest received since June. The Personnel Board would like to fill this vacancy as soon as possible.
The five-member board has staggered three-year terms beginning April 1st and ending March 31st. Party affiliations are noted as [D] Democrat, [R] Republican, [ I ] Independent, [G] Green, [L] Libertarian, [DTS] Declined to State, and [N] Not Registered to Vote. The board is currently composed as follows:
1. Leslie Geyer [D]
2. Bernadine Goldman [D]
3. Terry Priestly [I]
4. Laurence Warner [R]
Appointing this nominee will not violate the County Charter restriction concerning political party majorities on Boards and Commissions. The interview committee consisted of Councilor Morris Pongratz, Board Chair Leslie Geyer, and Staff Liaison Denise Cassel. The committee recommends appointing Kenneth Cleveland to the current vacancy.
