Consideration of Postponement of Recommendations from Animal Shelter Advisory Committee
Recommended Action
I move to postpone the deadline for Animal Shelter Advisory Committee recommendations to Council for three months, making the recommendations due by May 6, 2019.
County Manager's Recommendation
The County Manager recommends that Council approve the requested extension.
Body
When Council established the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee, it adopted a charter which defined the committee's duties, including a request for an initial report from the committee to be delivered within 6 months - resulting in a deadline for such a report of February 6, 2019. The Committee Chair recently submitted the attached letter requesting an extension of time (3 months) in order to allow the committee more time to adequately provide the requested feedback. A copy of this request is included as attachment A - and a review of this letter will provide additional details regarding the committee's request.
Alternatives
Council could choose to not allow the committee more time and maintain the existing date for the committee's report, or Council could provide an alternate deadline.
Fiscal and Staff Impact/Planned Item
There is no anticipated financial nor staff impact related to this requested extension of time.
