Recommended Action
I nominate Robert Gibson (R), Travis Gibson (D), David Hampton (R), Steve Russel (D), and Steve Tobin (D) to fill 1 vacancy on the Board of Public Utilities and move that Council appoint 1 nominee to the vacant position as follows:

By roll call vote, Councilors vote for 1 nominee, and the nominee with the highest vote total of four or more will be appointed to fill the term beginning on July 1st, 2019 and ending on June 30th, 2024.

The purpose of this item is to fill 1 vacancy on the Board of Public Utilities.

This vacancy represents an expired term for Paul Frederickson, which will end on June 30, 2019. Mr. Frederickson replaced Mr. Chris Ortega, who served two full consecutive terms. Mr. Frederickson served one complete five-year term on the Board of Public Utilities from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2019. He is eligible for re-appointment, but has opted not to re-apply.

This 5-member board has 5-year terms beginning July 1st and ending June 30th. It is currently composed as follows: Paul Frederickson (D), Jeff Johnson (DTS), Stephen McLin (R), Kathleen Taylor (D) and Carrie Walker (D) .

Appointing any of the nominees will not violate the County Charter restriction concerning political party majorities on Boards and Commissions. Given the current makeup of the Board of Public Utilities, applicants can have any party affiliation.

All nominee party affiliations have been verified with the Clerk's Office.

Party affiliations are noted as [D] Democrat, [R] Republican, [I] Independent, [G] Green, [L] Libertarian, [DTS] Declined to State, and [N] Not Registered to Vote.
