Introduction of Incorporated County of Los Alamos Ordinance No. 696 Providing for the Transfer of Land to Los Alamos Public Schools
Recommended Action
I introduce, without prejudice, Incorporated County of Los Alamos Ordinance No. 696, an Ordinance providing for the transfer of land to Los Alamos Public Schools, and ask staff to assure that it is published as provided in the County Charter and that the property description in this publication include utility and drainage easements as required.
County Manager's Recommendation
The County Manager recommends that Council introduce this Ordinance.
Body
This ordinance provides for the transfer of Sullivan Field parking lot (see attachment B) to Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS). LAPS is planning to build a new fieldhouse at Sullivan Field. The plan for the fieldhouse includes a significant use of land that is currently part of the Sullivan field parking lot and this parking lot is currently owned by the County. In addition, LAPS has expressed an interest in owning the entire parking lot so that they can enforce LAPS policies there.
Prior to publication of the public hearing notice, the property description will be updated to include utility and drainage easements.
Alternatives
The Council could choose to not introduce this ordinance at this time.
Fiscal and Staff Impact/Planned Item
The introduction involves minimal staff and fiscal impact. If the ordinance is adopted, then the property would be conveyed to LAPS.
