Title

Amendment to the FY20 Compensation and Classification Plan, the re-grading of the Telecommunications Network Specialist Job Description.

Recommended Action

I recommend that Council approve the amendment to the FY20 Compensation and Classification Plan.

County Manager's Recommendation

The County Manager recommends that Council approve the motion as requested.

Body

The Information Management Division has made changes to the Telecommunications Network Specialist job description with the retirement of the incumbent. The change was removal of two certifications, the BICSI Level II Installer and the requirement of an EE-98J, Journeyman Electrician License.  Previously the County was in a position where much of the IM infrastructure was being developed and installed, now the County has progressed to more of a maintenance and less significant installation mode.  The removal of these two certifications, necessitated a re-grading of the position. With the proposed changes to the job description, the job description has been evaluated and downgraded, it is recommended the job description now be graded at a Grade 120, ($20.22-$29.81) FLSA Non-Exempt. Previously, the Telecommunications Network Specialist job description was a Grade 126 ($27.10-$39.95) FLSA Non-Exempt.

Alternatives

Council could choose to not approve the amendment to the FY20 Compensation and Classification Plan.
