Board/Commission Appointment(s) - Environmental Sustainability Board
Recommended Action
I nominate Alesia Benson, Valerie Shelley, and Erik Loechell to fill one current vacancy on the Environmental Sustainability Board.
I move that Council appoint one nominee to the current vacant position:
By roll call vote, Councilors vote for one nominee, and the nominee with the highest vote total of at least four votes will be appointed to fill a partial ESB term that began on August 1, 2018 and will end July 31, 2020. This nominee will also be appointed to a full term beginning on August 1, 2020 and ending on July 31, 2022.
Body
The Environmental Sustainability Board is a seven member board with staggered two-year terms beginning August 1 and ending July 31. A copy of the current Board Member roster is attached for reference (Attachment A). The vacancies are a result of an ESB member who is no longer serving on the board.

Erik Loechell [DTS]
Applicants were interviewed by an interview committee during August and December 2019. The interview committee consisted of the following:
ESB Chair: Lisa Bakosi
Council Liaison: Antonio Maggiore
ESB Staff Liaison: Angelica Gurule
The interview committee recommends appointing Erik Loechell.
Party affiliations are noted as [D] Democrat, [R] Republican, [I] Independent, [G] Green, [L] Libertarian, [DTS] Declined to State, and [N] Not Registered to Vote.
Appointing the applicants will not violate the County Charter restriction concerning political party majorities on Boards and Commissions.
