Board/Commission Appointment(s) - Environmental Sustainability Board
Recommended Action
I nominate Lisa Bakosi, Alesia Benson, and Brendon Parsons to fill three vacancies on the Environmental Sustainability Board and move that Council appoint these applicants for terms ending on July 31, 2022.
Body
The Environmental Sustainability Board is a seven-member board with staggered two-year terms beginning August 1 and ending July 31. A copy of the current Board Member list is attached for reference (Attachment A). The vacancies are a result of three member terms expiring on July 31, 2020. Sue Barns served two terms and is term limited and unable to reapply, Dorothy Brown served one term and did not reapply at this time, and Lisa Bakosi has served one term and is eligible for and interested in re-appointment.
The applicants are:
Lisa Bakosi [D]
Alesia Benson [R]
Brendon Parsons [D]
The nominee party affiliation has been verified with Clerk's Office for all three applicants.
The applicants were interviewed by an interview committee on July 8th and 9th, 2020. The interview committee consisted of the following:
Environmental Board Vice-Chair: Heather Ward
Council Liaison: David Izraelevitz
Environmental Sustainability Board Staff Liaison: Angelica Gurule
The interview committee recommends appointing Alesia Benson and Brendon Parsons, and re-appointing Lisa Bakosi.
Party affiliations are noted as [D] Democrat, [R] Republican, [I] Independent, [G] Green, [L] Libertarian, [DTS] Declined to State, and [N] Not Registered to Vote.
Appointing these applicants will not violate the County Charter restriction concerning political party majorities on Boards and Commissions.
