Board/Commission Appointment - Parks & Recreation Board
Recommended Action
I nominate Abigayle Cutting-Smith, Megan Hesselink, and Ramiro Pereyra to fill one vacancy on the Parks & Recreation Board and move that Council appoint one nominee to the vacant position as follows:

By roll call vote, Councilors vote for one nominee, and the nominee with the highest vote total of four or more will be appointed to fill the term beginning on September 29, 2020 and ending on November 30, 2022

In the event that the appointment results in an individual serving on two boards at the same time, the following motion will also be necessary:

I move that the County Council acknowledge that this appointment will result in ___________ serving on two boards concurrently, and thereby waive the Council rule limiting participation by individuals to only one board at a time.
Body
The purpose of this item is to fill a vacancy on the Parks & Recreation Board. This vacancy represents an unexpired term vacated by Ashley Mathews [L] which ends on Nov 30, 2020. Ms. Mathews resigned earlier this year from the PRB due to other commitments.

The following applications were received:
Abigayle Cutting-Smith [D]
Megan L Hesselink [D]
Ramiro A Pereyra [D]

The interview committee interviewed applicants on August 14, 2020 and consisted of the following: PRB Vice-Chair: Dina Pesenson; Council Liaison: Katrina Martin; and PRB Acting Division Manager: Dianne Marquez. The interview committee found all applicants to be well qualified and hoped that all would have the opportunity to serve on the Board, if not immediately, then in the future.The interview committee makes their recommendation based on seeking a balance among the currently serving members and the backgrounds, interests and skills of the applicants. The applicant packets attached include the application and interview notes by the interview committee for each applicant.
