Body

Applications for the 2021 Water Trust Board (WTB) funding cycle are due on October 5, 2020.  The DPU proposes to apply for funding to construct a filtration system at the Los Alamos Wastewater Treatment Plant.  A requirement by the WTB is to submit a resolution by the governing body with the application.  Resolution 20-15 is provided as Attachment A, which if approved, authorizes the DPU to apply for funding in the 2021 cycle.

This project identified in the 2013 Non-Potable Water Supply Plan, will install a filtration system to treat effluent to meet Class A water quality standards.  Once the Class A water is available, effluent water use can be expanded to irrigate parks and schools within Los Alamos.  This will result in the potential reduction of potable water use by 29.2 million (90 acre-feet) gallons per year.  Design of the filtration system will take place in early 2021 and we will have a shovel ready project if the funding is awarded.
