Body
During the BCC work plan review in 2023, the Council Work Plan Review Working Group identified several revisions that they wanted to make to the BCC Work Plan template. Annually, all Boards and Commissions are required to submit a work plan that among other items identifies work accomplished in the previous year and work planned for the upcoming year. Attachment A shows the draft of the revised BCC Work Plan template that was developed by the Council Working Group and staff. This template was designed to streamline the process and allow for the Boards and Commissions to easily identify their areas of focus and work instead of listing staff and/or departments' efforts. The template also changes the timeline for each work plan from fiscal year to calendar year which should align better with Council's strategic planning each fall.
The proposed timeline for the work plan process is shown below.
November: County Council Strategic Planning
December: B&Cs review and develop their work plans; this should be the sole item on the B&Cs December agenda
January: Finish and submit the final work plan for Council review
Work Plan Due Date: February 1
Alternatives
Council could ask for more changes to this template or decide to continue to utilize the existing work plan template.
Fiscal and Staff Impact/Unplanned Item
There is minimal staff and fiscal impact since staff already supports the BCCs and the completion of work plans annually.
