Board/Commission Appointment(s) - Parks & Recreation Board
Recommended Action
I nominate Summer Schaufler and Amanda Ferran to fill two vacancies on the Parks and Recreation Board and move that Council appoint two to the vacant positions as follows:
By roll call vote, Councilors vote for two nominees and the two with the highest vote total of four or more be appointed to fill terms beginning on December 1, 2023 and ending November 30, 2025.
Body
The purpose of this item is to fill two (2) vacancies on the Parks & Recreation Board. The vacancies represents expired terms; one vacated by David Hampton on November 30, 2023, and one vacated by Chris Olsen on November 30, 2023.
The applicants for these position are: Anna Swertferger [I], Summer Schaufler [I], Donald Dry [I], Miguel Hoffman [I], Ian Zollinger [I], Jasmine Stephens [I], and Thomas McReynolds [D]. Appointing any of the Independent party affiliations of the nominees will not violate the County Charter restriction concerning political party majorities on Boards and Commissions.
The interview panel consisted of the following: PRB Vice Chair James Wenicke; Council Liaison Suzie Havemann; Council Liaison Randall Ryti; Park Superintendent Wendy Parker; Assistant Park Superintendent Emmanuel Abeyta; and Recreation Superintendent Katherine Hudspeth. The interviews were conducted on December 14, 2023 - January 28, 2024. The interview panel recommends the appointment of Summer Schaufler and Ian Zollinger. The recommendation of the interview panel is included as Attachment I.
Party affiliations are noted as [D] Democrat, [R] Republican, [I] Independent, [G] Green, [L] Libertarian, [DTS] Declined to State, and [N] Not Registered to Vote.
This seven (7) member board has two (2) year terms, and the current roster is listed as a part of Attachment A.
