Recommended Action
I introduce, without prejudice, Incorporated County of Los Alamos Ordinance No. 02-343 an Ordinance Repealing and Replacing in its Entirety Article II, Chapter 14, of the County Code Pertaining to Cemeteries.
County Manager's Recommendation
The County Manager recommends that Council introduce this Ordinance.
Body
The Los Alamos County Community Services Department seeks to repeal and replace Chapter 14 of the Los Alamos County Code in its entirety. Currently, Article III of Chapter 14 of the County Code of Ordinances governs and regulates Guaje Pines Cemetery.
Chapter 14, Article III, “Cemeteries” provides minimum standards for cemetery operations and services. The update to Article III contained in the proposed ordinance is intended to provide specific definitions, operations of the cemetery and remove redundancies in the current Code.
The Cemetery Ordinance has not been substantially reviewed or amended since 2018.
Proposed Public Hearing Scheduled on: September 24, 2024.

Council could decide to not Introduce Ordinance No. 02-348.
