Body

The Parks division has requested that APP Board develop a plan about the leaking fountain.  They say that staff must refill it every week to keep it functional.  It was created and installed by artist Brian Cambra and Stone Forest in 2009.  It was purchased by Los Alamos County for $5,800.00.  Stone Forest no longer repairs their fountains and provided a list of companies who might be able to help. The sculpture itself is not in need of repair, and the pump has been replaced by the Parks division a few times due to this leaking issue.  To repair, a crane will be needed to lift the heavy fountain, a deeper reservoir will need to be dug (to reduce algae growth damaging the pump), and the materials under the fountain will need to be redesigned and replaced.  An educated guess at a cost for this repair is $8,000 due to increased labor and material costs since the original purchase.

APP Board members will discuss possible action and if action is recommended, will provide a recommended not to exceed budget amount.
