Recommended Action
I move that Council approve Grant Agreement AGR26-825 from the State of New Mexico Department of Transportation Fund 93100 Capital Appropriation Project for Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Direct Current Fast Charging Grant in an amount not to exceed $435,388.00 and authorize the County Manager to execute the grant agreement.

Los Alamos County has been awarded funding through the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Grant, also known as the State of New Mexico Department of Transportation Fund 93100 Capital Appropriation Project, in the amount of $435,488. As part of the grant acceptance process, approval of a Resolution of Support was required. This resolution was included in the agenda packet as Agenda Item RE0661-25.
The County will use these funds to procure and install two Direct Current (DC) Fast Charging (EVSE) units at Mesa Public Library. Each unit will include dual charging ports with a minimum output capacity of 150 kW per port, providing convenient and reliable access for EV users. The charging site will be publicly accessible 24/7 and designed to comply with ADA standards, with an emphasis on safety throughout both the design and construction phases.
The project scope also includes procurement of necessary supporting electrical equipment and upgrades to the local electrical distribution system to ensure reliable service. Once operational, the County will engage a private contractor to manage ongoing operation and maintenance of the charging infrastructure. A fee-for-service model will be implemented for charger use.
