Title

Recommendation of Amendment No. 2 to Services Agreement No. AGR20-912 with Smartphone Meter Reading (SPMR), LLC to Increase the Term of the Agreement for a Total of 15 Years Pursuant to County Code Section 31-111(1)(5), and Amend the Compensation to an Amount NTE $362,000.00 for the Purpose of Recording Utility Meter Data

Recommended Action

I move that the Board of Public Utilities recommend Amendment No. 2 to Services Agreement No. AGR20-912 with Smartphone Meter Reading (SPMR), LLC to Increase the Term of the Agreement for a Total of 15 Years Pursuant to County Code Section 31-111(1)(5), and Amend the Compensation to an Amount NTE $362,000.00 for the Purpose of Recording Utility Meter Data, and forward to Council for approval.

Utilities Manager's Recommendation

The Utilities Manager recommends that the Board approve the motion as presented.

Body

The original Agreement is for an application for smart phones, or similar devices, to record utility meter data and to communicate such data to its remote server.  It is a necessary link in the AMI meter reading process to transmit and encode data to be processed and served back to the Sensus portal that is used by DPU's Finance division for billing, analysis, and reporting purposes.  Essentially, it is the communication protocol for transmitting and processing the data that is read by the customer meter (gas, water, electric) to the Sensus AMI portal.

This amendment will extend the agreement until 2033 and account for the year over year increases that are detailed in the original Agreement.

Alternatives

None - if this contract is not amended, it will expire and AMI meter reading will become inoperable.

Fiscal and Staff Impact

None.
