Title
Authorize the Purchase of Cohesity Software, a Backup and Data Recovery Solution, and HPE Hardware, from Advanced Network Management (ANM) in the Amount of $603,397.45, Plus Applicable Gross Receipts Tax
Recommended Action
I move that Council approve the purchase of Cohesity Software, a backup and recovery solution, and HPE hardware, from Advanced Network Management (ANM) in the amount of $603,397.45 plus applicable Gross Receipts Tax.
Body
Cohesity is a backup and data protection solution for Los Alamos County and the off site Disaster Recovery site. Cohesity software increases the County’s security posture and provides an improved user interface in comparison to the current solution. Data is immutable (cannot be changed once created) meaning hijacking data becomes exceedingly difficult.
Allows for Expansion
a) This solution allows for expansion during Disaster Recovery (DR) at LAC’s off site location to cover more systems available for usage in a DR event.
b) Facilitates migration to Cloud-based resources. Whether using the Cohesity private cloud or a public cloud solution, the simpler management panels greatly lessen management time.
Note: County data is growing at over 15% per year. Current data under management is now over 350TB.
Technical Support on our current data protection solution is due for renewal August 22nd, 2023, at $115K. The HPE hardware for the Cohesity solution has an approximated delivery time of 6-8 weeks.
The Cohesity solution includes hardware, software, and technical support for a term of three years; the technical support piece will be approximately $150,000 per year after initial term. Technical support costs cover all maintenance and replacement needs. Cohesity will cost an additional $230,379.11 over the next seven years compared to the current system, however it provides for added security to the County data and includes the Disaster Recovery site in Albuquerque.
This purchase utilizes ANM's Contract with New Mexico Statewide Price Agreement, Contract #20-00000-21-00010AB as the procurement method. HPE is a contracted vendor under ANM's New Mexico Statewide Price Agreement.
Alternative
Continue to utilize the current system for backup and data recovery with reduced security features.
Fiscal and Staff Impact/Planned Item
Funds have been identified within the Information Management Operational budget and Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) budget for this replacement project.
