Recommended Action
I move that the Board of Public Utilities approve Task Order No. 7, AGR23-58 with Parker Construction (on-call) in the amount of $114,963.58 and a Contingency of $28,274.90, for a total of $143,238.48, plus applicable gross receipts tax, for the purpose of the White Rock Pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs) Replacement Project.
Utilities Manager's Recommendation
The Utilities Manager recommends that the Board approve the motion as presented.
Body
This project is to replace three PRV’s that are located in White Rock at Grand Canyon/Canada Way, Grand Canyon/Rover, and Grand Canyon/Richard Ct. The PRV body’s, isolation valves, flanges, bolts and some piping were found to be severely corroded and in need of replacement. Los Alamos Engineering staff has pre-purchased the PRV’s that are needing to be replaced.
This task order #7 with Parker Construction is to complete the work necessary to remove the existing PRV’s, isolation valves, and piping within the vault and will be replaced in-kind. The access manhole to these PRV’s is too small to remove and replace equipment. The work to replace the PRV’s and appurtenances will entail a partial road closure to remove asphalt and the top cover of the PRV concrete vault to remove PRV and piping. A new concrete top with lid and ring will be replaced. The road over the PRV station will be repaired with an asphalt patch.
The task order #7 with Parker Construction is in the amount of $114,963.58, not including NMGRT. We are proposing a 25% contingency of $28,274.90 for unanticipated repairs that may arise with this replacement project on the three PRV locations mentioned above. For a project total of $143,238.48, not including NMGRT.
Alternatives
If not approved, our water distribution crews will be unable to control water pressures to homes within the pressure zone and this will cause damage to water fixtures within the White Rock residents’ homes.
Fiscal and Staff Impact/Planned Item
This project has been funded for this fiscal year and this item will have no additional fiscal impact.
