Body
Annually, Engineering staff submits grant applications to the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) to help fund County roadway improvements through Municipal Arterial Program (MAP).
For Fiscal Year 2022-23, the NMDOT awarded Los Alamos County MAP funds in the amount of $155,520.00, comprised of a 75% State Share ($116,640.00) and 25% County Match ($38,880.00). The executed agreement is attached for reference as Attachment A.
These funds will be utilized in the 2024 construction season to offset road construction costs. Specifically, the grant funding will be utilized to offset road construction cost for the reconstruction and pavement rehabilitation of Rose Street from Central Avenue to Peach Street, a project programmed in FY24 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The Rose Street project is programmed in accordance with the 5-Year Road Reconstruction CIP which is based upon pavement condition ratings.
Prior to applying for the FY 2023 MAP funding, a resolution of support was required by NMDOT. This resolution was executed on February 22, 2022, as Resolution No. 22-03 (Attachment A). NMDOT requires an additional resolution for time extension of MAP funding. The resolution (shown in Attachment B) currently being requested will allow for an amendment to the executed Cooperative Agreement, extending the end date of the term to June 30, 2025. The Attorney's Office reviewed the attached resolution and was published as required by County Code (See Attachment C).
