County Manager's Recommendation

The County Manager recommends that Council approve this Contract for General Services as requested.

Body

The Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) requests approval of Amendment No. AGR25-963-A2 to Agreement No. AGR25-963 with Stryker Sales, LLC to purchase six (6) additional LifePak 35 cardiac monitors, including associated software and maintenance. These devices are critical to the delivery of advanced life support (ALS) and emergency medical services (EMS) throughout the community.

The original agreement was approved with a not-to-exceed amount of $389,398.77, which allowed LAFD to purchase six (6) LifePak 35 cardiac monitors that were placed into service in December 2025. Amendment No. AGR25-963-A1 increased the contract not-to-exceed amount to $804,173.33, plus applicable Gross Receipts Tax, and provided for the purchase of an additional six (6) monitors that were placed into service in April 2026.

This proposed amendment, AGR25-963-A2, increases the contract by $397,013.24 to support the purchase of the final six (6) LifePak 35 cardiac monitors. Approval of this amendment will increase the total contract not-to-exceed amount to $1,201,186.57, plus applicable Gross Receipts Tax.

The purchase of these final six units will complete the replacement of all frontline cardiac monitors within the LAFD fleet, eliminating reliance on aging equipment that is approaching the end of its service life. A fully modernized fleet of cardiac monitors will enhance operational readiness, improve patient care capabilities, and ensure consistency across all frontline apparatus. The agreement with Stryker Sales, LLC was procured through the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing program.

Funding for this purchase will be provided through the Fire Marshal Division budget. The monitors will be deployed on frontline engines to maintain operational readiness and support the continued delivery of high-quality emergency medical services to the community.

Alternatives

Continue with remaining LifePak 15 monitors until failure.

Fiscal and Staff Impact/Unplanned Item

The cost for the purchase of the six (6) LifePak35 cardiac monitors, including software and maintenance, will be funded through existing Fire Marshal funds. No additional impact at this time.
