DPU Quarter 1 Report for Fiscal Year 2026 (Jul-Sep)

The Board requested that each quarterly report be presented showing the status of the utility and providing project updates. Compiled by Public Relations Manager Cathy D'Anna, this report is for the first quarter of FY2026, covering the months of July, August and September. Highlights from the report

Page 3 - Utilities Manager's Report: Los Alamos County is joining a lawsuit related to PFAS.

Page 5 - The department's Mission, Vision, Values were updated per the latest changes adopted in September, and an Ethics Statement is now incorporated.

Page 7 - Changes to the department's strategic objectives were made to all focus areas other than Environmental Sustainability.

Page 12 - Safety Employee of the Quarter: DPU recognized Water Systems Supervisor Victor Tanuz with this honor.

Page 13 - With the retirement of Stephen Marez behind us, Acting Deputy Utility Manager Dennis Astley reported on the Electric Distribution Division, including an update on White Rock's T1 transformer replacement.

Page 15 - Electric Reliability: DPU's SAIDI jumped from 47 at the end of FY2025 to 103 at the end of the 1st quarter of FY2026. Nonetheless, it remains lower than the state and national averages, both of which also rose significantly when the December 2024 comparable were recently released.

Page 21 - The Electric Production overview by Ben Olbrich includes a quick look at hydroelectric plant production for the quarter as well as an update on the progress of the Foxtail Flats Solar and Storage agreements.

Page 25 - Clay Moseley provides updates on projects under the areas of natural gas, water, and wastewater, and discusses how the alternate 4/10 work schedule has been working out for GWS.

Page 31 - A summary of current project work is provided by James Alarid, followed by a schedule and listing of a whole new round of capital projects, those budgeted for FY2026.

Page 45 - The first quarter marked the introduction of public water system tours and opportunities to establish a DPU presence at several other new-to-us events.

Page 51 - Stepping into a new fiscal year brings a fresh set of financial and consumption tables.

Page 67 - Staffing News: DPU brought on two new employees, promoted six employees, and wished two people well in their retirements.
