Boards/Commission Appointments - Personnel Board
Recommended Action
I nominate Anna Marie Solomon, and Jennifer Best to fill one (1) vacancy on the Personnel Board and move that Council appoint one nominee to the vacant position as follows:
By roll call vote, Councilors vote for one nominee and the one with the highest vote total of four or more votes will be appointed to fill the term that begins on August 6, 2025, and ends March 31, 2028.
Body
This appointment is brought forward to fill a vacant seat on the Personnel Board. This five-member Board has a staggered three-year term all ending on March 31st, per Article VIII. Sec. 8-182. The current Personnel Board Member Roster can be reviewed and is shown on Attachment D.
The County received two applicant(s) Anna Marie Solomon (D) and Jennifer Best (L), who expressed interest in seeking a first term appointment to the Personnel Board. The applicants and their party affiliations have been verified by the Clerks' office. The applications for both applicants are available to view and is shown on Attachment A and B.
Applicants were interviewed by an interview committee on April 4, 2025 and June 30, 2025.
The interview committee consisted of the following:
Randall Ryti, Council Liaison
David Hampton, Board Chair
Mary Tapia, Human Resources Manager
The interview committee recommendation to Council can be reviewed and is shown on Attachment C.
Appointing either of the applicants will be compliant with the County Charter restriction concerning political party majorities on Boards and Commissions, per Article I. Sec. 8-7. (f). The current Personnel Board roster is shown in Attachment D. Party affiliations are noted as [D] Democrat, [R] Republican, [I] Independent, [G] Green, [L] Libertarian, [DTS] Declined to State, and [N] Not Registered to Vote.
