Proclamation Designating September 20th, 2025, as National Clean Up Day in Los Alamos (Accepted by Environmental Services Management Analyst Joshua Levings)
Body
WHEREAS, National Clean Up Day, established in 2017, is held annually on the third Saturday of September, with the goal of reducing litter and cleaning up local communities, parks, trails, and open spaces; and
WHEREAS, the Los Alamos County Environmental Services Division, under the Public Works Department, has hosted a Clean Up Day in Los Alamos for more than two decades, predating the national event; and
WHEREAS, this year marks the 22nd annual Clean Up Day, which coincides with the national effort and invites Los Alamos residents to join more than two million volunteers from communities, corporations, civic organizations, and neighborhoods across all 50 states and U.S. territories to clean and care for our outdoor spaces; and
WHEREAS, residents, businesses, and civic groups are encouraged to register for the Clean Up Day by Friday, September 12th, so the Environmental Services Division can provide sufficient gloves, trash bags, and other equipment free of charge to support this community-wide effort.
NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the Council of the Incorporated County of Los Alamos, I do hereby proclaim September 20th, 2025, as
“NATIONAL CLEAN UP DAY IN LOS ALAMOS”
and call upon all citizens to join together in this community effort to keep Los Alamos clean, safe, and beautiful.
