Title
Presentation and Discussion of Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) and How it Relates to the Los Alamos County Code of Ordinances
Body
As the threat of wildfire is increasing, many communities are adopting a Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) as part of their building and fire prevention codes. This presentation will discuss the recent efforts of County staff including the Chief Building Official and the Fire Marshal, on the best way to update our current codes. This team looked at industry best practices and used the 2021 International Wildland-Urban Interface Code as a starting point. A presentation (Attachment B) will be provided on how this International Code can apply to our local code and a draft ordinance is shown in Attachment A for information.
