Recommended Action
I move that Council approve Incorporated County of Los Alamos Resolution No. 23-22, Resolution of Support for County Participation in the 2023-2024 New Mexico Department of Transportation Local Government Road Fund for Reconstruction and Improvements of Various County Roads in Los Alamos, New Mexico Under the County Arterial Program.
County Manager's Recommendation
The County Manager recommends that Council approve the motion as presented.
Body
Annually, Engineering Staff submits grant applications to the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) to help fund County roadway improvements through the Local Government Road Fund which is comprised of the County Arterial Program, School Bus Route, and Cooperative Agreement Program.

For Fiscal Year 2023-24, the NMDOT awarded Los Alamos County a combined amount of $115,315, comprised of a 75% State Share ($86,486.25) and 25% County Match ($28,828.75) under the County Arterial Program

These funds will be utilized in the 2024 construction season to offset road construction costs. Specifically, the grant funding will be utilized for pavement preservation improvements of 45th Street,46th Street, 47th street, 48th Street, and Yucca Street, including crack seal and fog seal, as part of the 45th thru 48th streets off Urban Street and Yucca Street Pavement Preservation Project, programmed for FY24 funding in the amount of $300,000. This project was selected using the County’s Road Improvement Program which is based upon pavement condition ratings.
