Proclamation Designating October 2026, as "Arts and Humanities Month In Los Alamos County." (Accepted by George Marsden, Chair of MainStreet Futures Committee and Jacquelyn Connolly, Executive Director, Los Alamos MainStreet & Creative District)

WHEREAS, the arts and humanities embody human creativity, innovation, and expression while promoting critical thinking, empathy, collaboration, and lifelong learning; and
WHEREAS, October being National Arts and Humanities Month gives communities time to celebrate the arts and recognize the positive impacts they have on communities-from inspiring inspiration to strengthening the economy to driving tourism to bolstering civic pride; and
WHEREAS, artists, performers, writers, historians, cultural organizations, and educators throughout Los Alamos’s history have contributed to the vitality of our community by enhancing education, strengthening the economy, and improving overall quality of life.
NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the Council of the Incorporated County of Los Alamos, I do hereby proclaim October 2026, as
“ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONTH IN LOS ALAMOS COUNTY”
and I call upon all citizens to celebrate and support the arts and humanities by attending the many events and performances held in Los Alamos throughout October, to explore the amazing collection of public art on display through both townsites, or to check out a piece of art from the library’s collection to appreciate at home.
