Title
“Fuller Lodge” Painting by Frances Stovall
Recommended Action
I move that the Art in Public Places Board recommend to Council that the artwork Fuller Lodge by Frances Stovall be relocated from the APP storage room and installed in the front office of the Clerk's Office, Suite 240, in the Municipal Building.
Body
"Fuller Lodge" is a 15” x 20” framed pastel artwork donated by the artist, Frances Stovall, in 2018. In October of that year, Council approved its display at the airport; however, for reasons unknown, it was never installed. During airport renovations in 2021, APPB members were directed to identify an alternative location for the piece. At the January 27, 2022 APPB meeting, a motion was approved to recommend to Council that the artwork be placed above the baby grand piano in the lunch/dance room at the Senior Center. Unfortunately, this recommendation was never forwarded to Council. The artwork remains in the APPB storage room.
Recently, County staff spoke with Gary Goddard, the new Airport Manager, who has a specific vision for the airport and chose not to display "Fuller Lodge". The Deputy County Manager then suggested that the piece be placed in an office within the Municipal Building that receives public visitors, such as the Assessor’s Office, Clerk’s Office, or the County Manager’s Office. After outreach to both the Assessor’s and Clerk’s offices, the Clerk’s Office expressed interest in displaying the artwork in their front office.
