Board/Commission Appointment - Environmental Sustainability Board
Recommended Action
I nominate Anastasia Letaw and John Key to fill one vacancy on the Environmental Sustainability Board and move that Council appoint one to the vacant position as follows:
By roll call vote, Councilors vote for one nominee and the one with the highest vote total of four or more be appointed to fill the term beginning on August 1, 2026 and ending on July 31, 2028.
Body
The purpose of this item is to fill one (1) vacancy on the Environmental Sustainability Board. This vacancy represents an expired partial term vacated by Sue Barns which ended on July 31, 2026.
The following applicants are seeking appointments for the first full term: John Key [DTS] and Anastasia Letaw [DTS].
The interviews were held on September 2nd and September 8th, 2026, and the interview panel consisted of the following:
Council Liaison: Melanee Hand
Environmental Sustainability Board Chair: David Hampton
Environmental Sustainability Board Staff Liaison: Angelica Gurule, Sustainability Manager
The interview panel recommends appointing John Key to the Environmental Sustainability Board.
Party affiliations are noted as [D] Democrat, [R] Republican, [I] Independent, [G] Green, [L] Libertarian, [DTS] Declined to State, and [N] Not Registered to Vote. Appointing any of the applicants will not violate the County Charter restriction concerning political party majorities on Boards and Commissions.
This seven member board has two year terms beginning August 1 and ending July 31, and the current ESB Member Roster is included as Attachment D.
