?WHEREAS, voting is a fundamental right and a cornerstone of democracy, ensuring that every citizen has a voice in the decisions that affect our communities, state, and nation; and
WHEREAS, Los Alamos County is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of election integrity while also promoting extensive voter registration, access, and active participation in elections among all eligible citizens; and
WHEREAS, Los Alamos County acknowledges that many Americans may miss the opportunity to vote due to missed registration deadlines, outdated registration information, or unfamiliarity with the registration process; and

WHEREAS, National Voter Registration Day serves as a nonpartisan civic holiday dedicated to promoting voter registration and encouraging all eligible citizens to participate in the electoral process; and

WHEREAS, National Voter Registration Day seeks to address these challenges by providing a focused, nationwide effort to raise awareness of voter registration opportunities and help citizens prepare to exercise their right to vote; and

WHEREAS, On March 14, 2019, the New Mexico House of Representatives passed Senate Bill 672, allowing New Mexico to join 17 other states and the District of Columbia in offering same-day voter registration options to eligible voters; and

WHEREAS, Los Alamos County understands the importance of collaborating with a variety of partners - including nonprofits, libraries, businesses, colleges, and universities - to effectively register citizens to vote in the communities they serve; and

WHEREAS, we acknowledge the importance of ensuring that every eligible voter is registered, informed, and empowered to participate in our democracy, thereby strengthening the voice of the people in our government; and...
