Discussion and Possible Approval of 2026 Los Alamos County State Legislative Agenda

Recommended Action

I move that the Council approve the 2026 Los Alamos County State Legislative Agenda as presented.

County Manager's Recommendation

The County Manager recommends that Council approve the 2026 State Agenda as requested.

Board, Commission or Committee Recommendation

The Regional and State Working Group recommends that the full Council approve the 2026 State Agenda as requested.

Body

The Los Alamos County Council Regional and State Working Group (Chair Theresa Cull, Councilors David Reagor and Melanee Hand) discussed and decided upon the draft attached in Attachment A in consultation with County Management, Intergovernmental Affairs Manager, and the state lobbyist, to bring forward for full Council approval. The state priorities include a mix of Los Alamos County specific and more general policies that the County Council believes would be beneficial for the citizens of Los Alamos. Attachment A is the draft 2026 State Legislative Agenda approved by the Council’s Regional and State Working Group. Attachment B, is the 2025 State Legislative Agenda and is included to provide a comparison to 2026 State Agenda.
