Consideration of Los Alamos Resiliency, Energy and Sustainability Task Force FY23 Budget Requests.
Recommended Action
I move that Council ask Environmental Services staff to include these recommendations as budget options in the FY23 budget process.
County Manager's Recommendation
The County Manager recommends that Council approve the motion as presented.

The Los Alamos Resiliency, Energy, and Sustainability Task Force approved the budget recommendations as described in Attachment A.
Body
On January 26, 2021, Los Alamos County Council approved the formation of the Los Alamos Resiliency Energy & Sustainability Task Force (LARES). The purpose of the LARES Task Force is to serve as an advisory body to the County Council for the purpose of recommending ways for the County as a whole, including government, businesses, and residents, to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions and advance other sustainable practices in the face of climate change.

The Task Force delivered the interim report to County Council on August 24, 2021, gathered Council feedback and have continued to research and develop recommendations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The final report will be delivered to County Council by February 1, 2022.

On December 3, 3021 at the LARES Task Force regular meeting, the Task Force discussed and took action on the attached budget request that would be presented to County Council on December 14, 2021. The budget items requested are in alignment with the Task Force Charter and would allow for the advancement of the work set out by the Task Force to reduce the County’s carbon footprint and mitigate climate change. The Task Force unanimously approved the budget request recommendations as decribed in Attachment A - LARES Budget Requests.
