Recommended Action

I move that Council certify the Incorporated County of Los Alamos Resolution No. 26-05; A resolution certifying the 2026 Road Mileage as presented and authorize submittal to the New Mexico Department of Transportation.

County Manager’s Recommendation

The County Manager recommends that Council approve the motion as presented.

Body

Each year, the New Mexico Department of Transportation requires counties to certify their roadway mileage. These figures are used to determine funding allocations under programs such as the Local Government Road Fund Cooperative Agreement, County Arterial Program, and School Bus Route Program. Certification must be submitted by April 1 annually.

Los Alamos County currently maintains 111.357 miles of roads. A copy of Resolution No. 26-05 and the letter of the certification are included for reference.

Fiscal and Staff Impact/Planned Item

Submitting the Annual Road Mileage Certification to the NMDOT makes the County eligible to participate in the Local Government Road Fund Cooperative Agreement, County Arterial, School Bus Route Programs, and the Municipal Arterial Program.
