Board Appointment - Lodgers' Tax Advisory Board
Recommended Action
I move that Council nominate and appoint Jennifer Olsen and Conner Tharp to fill the business/hospitality representative vacancies on the Lodgers' Tax Advisory Board with the term December 2, 2024 to December 1, 2027.

I nominate David Hampton and Kevin Holsapple to fill the community-at-large vacancy on the Lodgers' Tax Advisory Board and move that Council appoint the nominees as follows:

By roll call vote, Councilors vote for one nominee and the nominee with the highest votes of four or more will be appointed to fill the term beginning on December 2, 2022 and ending on December 1, 2025.

Note: If David Hampton is selected for appointment, one further action is required:

I further move Council acknowledge that David Hampton is currently serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission, Transportation Board, and Personnel Board. Council finds these positions compatible, Council approves of Mr. Hampton serving concurrently on these boards, and hereby appoints him to the Lodgers' Tax Advisory Board.
Body
The purpose of this item is to fill three vacancies on the Lodgers' Tax Advisory Board. Per New Mexico Statutes Annotated1978, ยง 3-38-22, the Membership of Lodgers' Tax Advisory Board has five members: Two members who own or operate lodgings in the unincorporated area of the county, two members who own or operate industries in the unincorporated area of the county that serve tourists, and one member who represents the general public and is a resident of the unincorporated area of the county.

Mr. Hampton or Mr. Holsapple could fill the vacancy for a Community-at-Large representative.

Ms. Tharp and Ms. Olsen could fill the vacancies for tourism business/hospitality representatives. Ms. Olsen is an incumbent.

One vacancy for a lodging representative will still remain if these three appointments are made.
