At the Boards and Commissions Luncheon on November 13, 2025, Chair Cull and Councilor Reagor opened a discussion about potentially revising term limits. They noted that some Boards struggle to recruit new members, and in several cases current members are willing to continue serving but are prevented from doing so by the County Code’s existing term-limit requirements. This can make it difficult for Boards to reach quorum and hold meetings.
They emphasized that the length or structure of term limits should not discourage community members from serving. One option discussed was allowing members to serve additional consecutive terms if they are interested. Members would still be required to reapply, ensuring an open and fair recruitment process and giving other community members the opportunity to apply.
Chair Cull requested that each Board discuss the idea of revising term limits and provide feedback.
