Title
NM4 Crossing and Multi-Use Trail Improvements
Recommended Motion
I move that the Transportation Board recommend the NM4 Crossing and Multi-use Trail Improvement Project and consider Cross Section Alternative(s) [1, 2 and/or 3]
I further move that the Transportation Board recommend the County work with Los Alamos Public Schools on an auxiliary trail connection from Piñon Park to Grand Canyon Drive.
Body
Keith Wilson, Project Manager with the Public Works Engineering Division will present on the NM4 Crossing and Multi-Use Trail Improvements Project.
This project includes the design and construction of both new and reconstructed multi-use trails within Piñon Park. The planned improvements will enhance connectivity and safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Key features of the project include:
Approximately 3,500 feet of existing multi-use trails will be upgraded to improve user experience and accessibility.
Approximately 2,500 feet of new multi-use trail alignment will be added, providing additional paths for recreational use.
A new crossing will be introduced to improve the safety of trail users crossing NM4. The westbound approach of NM4 will be reduced from two travel lanes to one, enhancing safety and reducing traffic speed in the area.
